Who we are

L Z Development Pty Ltd trading as Serica Journeys, ABN 85 167 079 727, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Contact: [email protected]. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Enquiry details — your name, email, travel dates, party size and anything you choose to tell us about what you want.
  • Booking details — billing information and the itinerary you book.
  • Passport details — full name, passport number, nationality and date of birth, where a site on your itinerary requires real-name admission.
  • Health and dietary information — only where you tell us, and only so we can operate the day safely.

Why we collect passport details, and where they go

Several major Chinese sites — including the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding — have moved to capped, identity-linked advance admission. Entry cannot be obtained without matching passport details. Where your itinerary includes such a site we collect those details, transfer them to the licensed local agency handling your reservation in that city, and they are submitted to the site's booking system. This is a disclosure of personal information to an overseas recipient in the People's Republic of China. If you would prefer not to provide them we can usually build an itinerary that avoids identity-linked sites — ask us.

Who else we share with

Our guides, drivers and ticketing staff in the city you are travelling in, to the extent needed to run your day: your name, party size, pick-up point, contact number and any access or dietary requirements. Our payment processor and bank, to take payment. Nobody else, and we never sell or rent personal information.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records for 24 months. Booking and financial records for 7 years, as Australian tax law requires. Passport details are deleted within 90 days of your journey unless we are required to retain them.

Your rights

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we are not legally required to keep. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
